The Lagoon in Sagitarius - posted 6/19/06
I had an exceptionally transparent night which allowed me to shoot this Southern target. Typically the haze when shooting this close to the horizon really makes things difficult so a cool clear night was most welcome! I used an HA filter in place of red on this shot, and also added some of the nebulosity data from the HA into the LUM channel. After that it was just a straight LRGB process. I manually removed a half dozen smallish blooms, used curves to bring out the contrast and hit it with a mild unsharp mask.
